"Ataxia Awareness Society (AAS) " of Indore organized a 'National Ataxia Summit' in Akshat Garden, Indore on October 8th and 9th 2022. The founder of the organization, Swasti Wagh, told that Ataxia patients and their caretakers from different states of the country participated in the summit. Various sessions like physiotherapy, panel discussion, speech therapy, motivational talk, meditation, musical evening was arranged for ataxia patients.
In the first session, on 8 the October after inauguration of the summit physiotherapy session started. Neuro-physiotherapist Dr. Bhavesh Chaudhary, Dr. Deepak Gadhwal (from Indore), and Dr. Juhi Dave, Dr. Dakshayani Gholap, Dr. Riya Mishra (from Mumbai) conducted this session They suggested each patient particular physiotherapy exercises according to the condition of patients. They also gave practical training of these exercises.
In the second session, a panel discussion on the topic 'Ataxia Today' was held online on zoom platform. Renowned Ataxia experts from well-known institutions, Dr. Achal Srivastava from AIIMS New Delhi. Dr. Mohammad Faruq from I. G. I. B. New Delhi, Dr. Pramod Pal from NIMHANS Bangalore, I.O.R. D. CEO Dr. Ramiyah Muthyala, Dr. Ishwar Verma from Institute of Genetics and Genomics, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Dr. Apoorva Pauranik senior neurologist and Patron of AAS were on penal board. They discussed different aspects of ataxia and answered queries of patients and also discussed on Govt policies for rare diseases. The moderator of this session was Dr. Anupam Gupta (from UK).
On 9th October the first session Speech Therapist Dr Hamina discussed about the speech problems with the patients.
Then Motivational Speaker Dr. Bharat Rawat who is Lifestyle Coach and Renowned Cardiologist of Indore gave a very impressive and motivating talk on the topic 'Enjoying life despite challenges'.
Padma Shree Dr. Janak Palta ji expressed her views on sustainable lifestyle for healthy body and give stress on adopting organic food.
Sahaja Yoga meditation session was taken by dietitian Mrs. Poonam Vishal Jewel to maintain a healthy body and mind balance.
In the second session on 9th October a well-known musician Pandit Prakash Shujalpurkar and the disciples enthralled everyone with the presentation of film songs.
In this two-day summit all the participants learned a lot, sang their favourite songs, played games, shared their man ki bat amongst all.
